Nature, refined by hand.
A Journey Back to Roots:
My story began in the Ottawa Valley, where I spent my early years studying the intricate rhythms of life, eventually pursuing Biology and Animal Behaviour at Carleton University. After a rewarding 25-year career as an educator, I’ve returned to the materials that first sparked my curiosity.
Today, Ravenswood Studio Ottawa is where I reconnect with the natural world. I am inspired by the raw textures of the Canadian Shield—the ancient rocks, the movement of the water, and the quiet dignity of the forest. My work is an obsession with the grains and natural hues of the Beech, Birch, Maple, and Oak that surround my cottage at Lac Sam.
Adding woodturning to my repertoire has allowed me to celebrate cottage living by giving a second life to these majestic trees. Whether through a hand-turned bowl or a curated book, everything I create is a tribute to the flora and fauna of the Valley that makes me feel whole.
A vintage-vibe, for the contemporary cottage:
Based at my cottage on Lac Sam, I create pieces that celebrate the "Cottage Life" aesthetic. From traditional woodturning to nature-inspired artwork and design, Ravenswood Studios is dedicated to the beauty of natural materials and the joy of creating things that last.
